Fall 2023- Interviewing the Pandemonium Musical Director, Ms. Cora Harms

For more than 25 years, Ms. Harms has been instructing music in Santa Fe and has served as the musical director for Pandemonium Productions for 15 years. This Mad Dog Media and Company article features how “Frozen” rehearsals are going, from the musical directors’ point of view:

Insights into the hard work and dedication the young actors have put into their roles in “Frozen”

"It is a pleasure to see the young actors exploring and embracing their characters, songs and movement in the show. They are working hard to memorize parts and make the characters their own, which can be hard when a show is so well known. I think Chris is a master at helping the cast do this. Through his games and working scenes through together with staff and kids, we make each show our own, instead of just strictly adhering to the script."

Funny/favorite moments that have occurred during rehearsals of “Frozen”

"Something that has been fun to see is Mazen and Clare wearing their little girl costumes from before with much delight! I appreciate that the cast is ready to have fun and make a great show no matter where we are, (and) switching locations. Great awesome kids!"

Young performers coming together and collaborating to create a magical and cohesive show

"I have noticed really nice collaboration and friendships between double cast partners, they are so supportive of each other. Teamwork is coming together, we are not at magic yet, soon!"

Teaching iconic music

"My joy is watching the kids sing these songs that they love SO MUCH!  Each song expresses something they all feel and identify with.  It can be challenging to change a song from an adult voice to a young voice, we look at the keys/ranges carefully and encourage healthy singing. :) "

"We all get to sing Let It Go at the end which is great.  The song helps the actors express their hopes, dreams, limitations to be overcome.  I am having to ask them to sing a little softer, they are so enthusiastic!"

Many thanks to Ms. Harms for an incredible interview!
